Escape From Pitfalls
Background Scripture: Ezekiel 14:12-14, 22
- People in destruction net or coven of wickedness can break loose in the ability of I AM.
- Satan’s trap lies in wait for all who desire to be in heaven with Christ. He works tirelessly to make them fail, or fall, or return to Egypt, but our help is in God who made the heavens and the earth (1Pet. 5:8-9; 1 Jn. 5:19; Gen.49:22-26).
- The ministry of Jesus on earth is full of stories of satanic pitfalls here and there. A case in point was of a woman alleged to have been caught in the act of adultery. Her arresters took up stones; brought her to Jesus as captive, seeking go ahead from Jesus to stone her to death. Do they actually need such permission from Him before they stone her? Was Jesus their high priest or judge? I think the stones in their hands were actually for Jesus and not for the woman. If Jesus had said the woman was not guilty, they would have said he was supporting adultery. If he had ruled against their accessory, they would have said he was sponsoring illegal killing. We could observe that her adultery partner wasn’t there for complete evidence. So either way, Jesus would have been in danger of being stoned to death for wrong judgement, but wisdom and divine sovereignty prevailed (John 8:1-11). Jesus did not only escape their evil plot, the helpless woman also escaped.
- I tell you, in vain is a snare set for a bird in its presence (Prov. 1:17). Spiritual Christians, whose blood stream had been injected with the blood of Jesus, and whose spirit had been superimposed by the Spirit of Christ, understand the way of Satan (2 Cor. 2:11). Jesus answered those adversaries to stone their victim if they are pure of sin, and he started writing down mysteries. Can I write some spiritual mysteries for your escape today? By His stripes you were healed (1 Pet. 2:24). He became poor that you may escape the sting of poverty (2 Cor. 8:9). He died young that you may fulfill your years (Rev. 21:4-7; 22 :3-5). Thousands shall fall around you and you will escape (Ps. 91:7-8). Hardship all over will respect your person (Ps. 102:4-8). When there’s road mishap, you will escape unhurt! When men are cast down, you shall say, there’s lifting up (Job 22:29).
- Several such attempts were made to entrap Jesus, but all amounted to nothing, because there was grace to escape with him (Lk.20:20-40; Jn. 6:15). As a result, wisdom is required to escape evil traps of evil men than muscular strength (Acts 23:6-10).
